Virginia Decoded

The Virginia state code, for humans.

§ 18.2-30 Murder and manslaughter declared felonies.

Any person who commits capital murder, murder of the first degree, murder of the second degree, voluntary manslaughter, or involuntary manslaughter, shall be guilty of a felony.

History

This law was first created in 1975. The record of its establishment is cataloged in chapter Array of that year’s edition of “Acts of Assembly,” the annual state publication listing all changes made to the Code of Virginia in that year. Unfortunately, the 1975 “Acts” aren’t available online.
