CODE OF VIRGINIA

SHORT TITLE; PURPOSE (§ 2.2-2900)

This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the “Virginia Personnel
Act.”The purpose of this chapter is to ensure for the Commonwealth a
system of personnel administration based on merit principles and objective
methods of appointment, promotion, transfer, layoff, removal, discipline, and
other incidents of state employment.
