MAYOR OF TOWN TO CONTINUE IN OFFICE (§ 15.2-3814)

If a town becomes a city under this chapter, the mayor of the town shall be the
mayor of the city; shall receive the same salary and fees; and shall discharge
the duties, be vested with the authority and be subject to the penalties imposed
on him by the charter or general law. He shall serve until his successor is
elected and qualified.
