CODE OF VIRGINIA

(REPEALED EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2016) ELIGIBILITY TO SERVE FOR MORE THAN TWO
SUCCESSIVE TERMS (§ 23-117)

No person, except the ex officio member, shall be eligible to serve for or
during more than two successive four-year terms; but after the expiration of a
term of two years or less, or after the expiration of the remainder of a term to
which appointed to fill a vacancy, two additional four-year terms may be served
by such a member if appointed thereto. Incumbents on April 5, 1945, appointed
for full terms prior to June 1, 1944, shall be deemed to be serving their first
terms.
