Except from the first Monday in March to, but not including, the first Monday in May, it is unlawful for vessels with a gross weight of less than seventy tons to use purse nets to take or catch menhaden for purposes other than use as fish meal or oil.A violation of this section is a Class 1 misdemeanor.
