If any person summoned or adjourned as a juror fail to attend according to the summons or adjournment, the escheator shall return the fact to the next circuit court having jurisdiction over the county or city in which the land that is the subject of the inquisition may lie. Such court may fine such person not exceeding fifty dollars. Jurors shall be compensated as provided for jurors in civil cases.
