CODE OF VIRGINIA

PENALTY FOR DISOBEYING IT (§ 8.01-659)

If the person on whom such writ is served shall, in disobedience to the writ,
fail to bring the petitioner, with a return of the cause of his detention,
before a court before which the writ is returnable, he shall forfeit to the
petitioner $ 300.
