						<section><p>No proceedings brought under this chapter shall fail because of a defect, imperfection or omission in the annexation <span class="dictionary">ordinance</span> or the <span class="dictionary">pleadings</span> which does not affect the substantial rights of the parties or any other technical or procedural defect, imperfection or error, but the special <span class="dictionary">court</span> shall at any time allow amendment of the <span class="dictionary">ordinance</span> or the <span class="dictionary">pleadings</span> or make any other <span class="dictionary">order</span> necessary to ensure the <span class="dictionary">hearing</span> of the case on its merits.</p></section></text><history>Code 1950, &#xA7; 15-152.16; 1952, c. 328; 1962, c. 623, &#xA7; 15.1-1046; 1979, c. 85; 1980, c. 592; 1997, c. 587.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
